Weidong Smart Classroom of the University of Colombo

The University of Colombo has ceremonially opened its Weidong Smart Classroom on the 17th of February 2022. The Smart Classroom is located on the fifth floor of the Main Library of the University of Colombo is well equipped with high-end computer terminals, smartboard, audio-visual gadgets, and Internet connection. This was materialized through a memorandum of understanding between the University of Colombo and Southern University of Science and Technology, and the International Centre for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO and sponsored by Weidong Cloud Education Group, China. The Smart Classroom has been designed to accommodate the latest modes of teaching-learning and other academic interactions.

The opening was graced by Senior Professor Kapila Perera, the Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Senior Professor Chandrika N Wijeyaratne, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Professor Wei HAN, the Executive Deputy Director of the UNESCO-ICHEI, Mr. Zhiqian WANG, Vice President of Weidong Cloud Education Group, Senior Professor Lakshman Dissanayake, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo, Rector, Deans, Directors, Registrar, Bursar and other academic, administrative staff and technical experts from the University of Colombo and UNESCO-ICHEI.
