Celebrating Literary and Reading Month 2025 – University of Colombo Library

Event 01 – Book Talk

The Library of the University of Colombo is celebrating Literary and Reading Month 2025 by organising a series of programmes aimed at inculcating reading habits among undergraduates. The first programme, “The Book Talk”, was held on 18th September 2025 at the Main Library premises. The featured book was “භාෂාධ්‍යයනය හා වාග්විද්‍යාව : සිද්ධාන්ත, ක්‍රමවේද හා මතවාද”, compiled by Senior Professor Sandagomi Coperahewa.

During the session, Professor Coperahewa shared his editorial experiences and provided valuable insights into the content of the book. The discussion encouraged students to explore reading from new perspectives and inspired them to actively engage in research. The programme was highly interactive and well-received by both academic staff and students. On this occasion, Professor Coperahewa generously donated a copy of his book to the Library, which was formally accepted by the Acting Librarian, Dr. Kalpana Manathunga. The event was successfully coordinated by Ms. H.I.S.M. Adhikari, Senior Assistant Librarian, Reader Services.
