Colombo Discourses 2025: A Visionary Step by the University Library
The Library of the University of Colombo launched its new flagship initiative, Colombo Discourses 2025, on 16th October 2025, marking a new milestone in the University’s commitment to fostering knowledge sharing and intellectual collaboration. The inaugural session, themed “Talk to an Expert,” featured an engaging discourse by Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo.
The event brought together academics, students, and professionals, creating a vibrant space for dialogue and exchange of ideas. Through Colombo Discourses 2025, the Library aims to cultivate a culture of inquiry and continuous learning, inspiring participants to explore diverse perspectives and engage in meaningful conversations that go beyond the boundaries of the classroom. By transforming the Library into a “living classroom,” the initiative reimagines its traditional role, from a repository of books to a dynamic hub for creativity, collaboration, and scholarly growth.
Organised alongside the Reading Month 2025 celebrations, the programme was coordinated by Ms. S. M. Adhikari, Senior Assistant Librarian (Reader Services), in collaboration with the Library staff. With this initiative, the University Library continues to strengthen its role as a catalyst for intellectual engagement and a key partner in shaping a future-ready academic community.
