Hands-on Canva Training Empowers Library Information Assistants with Design Skills

A hands-on training session on Canva was successfully held on 17th June 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Skill Lab, Science Library, targeting Library Information Assistants.

The session aimed to build participants’ capacity in digital design, with a focus on creating attractive posters, banners, and promotional content using the popular platform, Canva. This practical training helped staff explore creative tools essential for modern library communication and outreach.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Madhushan Lankathilake, Senior Assistant Librarian at the Science Library, who served as the resource person and the programme was carried out under the supervision of the Library Training and Skill Development coordinator.

A total of 20 Library Information Assistants participated in the session, actively engaging in hands-on activities and design exercises.
