Hands-on Training Session on Institutional Repository (IR) Document Uploading

A hands-on training session on document uploading to the Institutional Repository (IR) of the University of Colombo was successfully conducted on 28th January 2026 at the Skill Lab of the Science Library.

The session was organised for Library Information Assistants with the objective of enhancing their practical knowledge and technical competencies in managing and uploading scholarly content to the Institutional Repository. The programme was conducted by Mrs. Shabnam Johoran, Senior Assistant Librarian and the Officer-in-Charge of the Institutional Repository (IR) of the University of Colombo. 

Thirteen Library Information Assistants participated in the training and actively engaged in the hands-on activities. The interactive nature of the session enabled participants to clarify practical issues and share their experiences regarding challenges encountered in the document uploading process. This facilitated a productive exchange of ideas and solutions, further strengthening institutional capacity in repository management. The training programme marks another significant step towards enhancing the efficiency, visibility, and accessibility of the University’s scholarly output through its Institutional Repository.
