Stephen is Director, External Affairs at the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), the global organisation for libraries of all types. In his role, Stephen works with colleagues to ensure that the potential of libraries to contribute to wider policy goals is recognised, and to advocate for the legal and policy changes needed for them to realise their potential. In particular, he is involved in IFLA’s work around sustainable development, both as an opportunity for libraries to build new connections and as a tool for reflecting on our own contribution to societal goals. Stephen has worked for IFLA since 2016, and previously held roles at the British Embassy in France, and the UK Permanent Delegation to the OECD. He studied at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, Sciences-Po Strasbourg and the College of Europe, Natolin.
