Mrs. Ramya Varuni Gangabadaarachchi currently serves as the Chief Librarian of the Colombo Public Library, a position she has held since 2012. With over 25 years of professional experience in librarianship, she has contributed significantly to the development of library and information services in Sri Lanka. She began her career as an Assistant Librarian in the Documentation Division of the National Library and Documentation Services Board (1998–2011), where she played an active role in digital collection development and preservation initiatives. Mrs. Gangabadaarachchi has also held significant leadership roles within the Sri Lanka Library Association, including as General Secretary (2022–2024) and Treasurer (2019–2022). She has represented Sri Lanka at various international forums, such as the International Network of Emerging Library Innovators (INELI) – India and South Asia Convening in 2020, as well as regional workshops on digital heritage preservation in Korea, Malaysia, and India. She holds a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Colombo and a B.Sc. Special Degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Peradeniya. With her expertise, research contributions, and leadership, Mrs. Gangabadaarachchi continues to play a vital role in strengthening the library profession and promoting access to information in Sri Lanka.
