University of Colombo Library Celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year

On 22nd April 2025, the staff of the University of Colombo Library celebrated the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, embracing the spirit of tradition. The event began with the offering of traditional betel leaves, followed by lightning talks from the Librarian and Senior Assistant Registrar, and the ceremonial lighting of the oil lamp. A highlight of the event was the traditional New Year dining table, adorned with a variety of traditional sweets. The celebration reflected the Library’s commitment to fostering community spirit and preserving Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage.
