Workshop on ORCID

The Library of the University of Colombo hosted a workshop on ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) on August 29th at the Board Room of the Main Library. The session was designed to help library academics better understand the functions and benefits of ORCID, a unique, persistent identifier that facilitates research visibility and attribution.

The workshop was conducted by Prof. Lasith Gunawardena, a member of the Researcher Advisory Council at ORCID Inc. and the Head of the Department of Information Technology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Prof. Gunawardena shared insights into how ORCID can enhance the scholarly journey of academics by ensuring proper attribution, improving research visibility, and streamlining the management of research outputs.

This session provided an invaluable opportunity for participants and their institutions to explore the potential of ORCID in supporting their research and scholarly activities.
