Generous Book Donation from the Former President Her Excellency Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga

The Library of the University of Colombo was honoured to receive a generous donation of books from Her Excellency Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, former President of Sri Lanka, on 24th October 2025. Madam President visited the Library and had a cordial discussion with the Library staff during her visit.

The collection, comprising valuable works in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities, was officially handed over to Dr. Kalpana Manatunga, Acting Librarian of the University, at a brief ceremony held in the Boardroom of the Main Library. The donated books cover a wide range of subjects, including political science, international relations, sociology, and history.

This thoughtful contribution from the former President will greatly enrich the Library’s collection and serve as a valuable resource for students, academics, and researchers of the University of Colombo.
