Book Donation by Senior Professor Sandagomi Coperahewa

Prof. Sandagomi Coperahewa, Senior (Chair) Professor of the Department of Sinhala, University of Colombo, donated a valuable collection of books authored and edited by him to the University Library on 18th August 2026, marking the completion of 30 years of his distinguished academic career.

A devoted book and library enthusiast, Prof. Coperahewa expressed his gratitude to the University of Colombo Library, its rich collection, and the services it provides. He emphasized that this donation is a token of gratitude and recognition of the library’s contributions to academia.

The collection comprises publications on the Sinhala language, linguistics and grammar, as well as works on history, media studies, and communication, thereby further enriching the library’s existing collections in these disciplines.

The event was attended by the Librarian, Senior Assistant Librarians, the Senior Assistant Registrar, and representatives of the library staff.

This generous contribution is highly appreciated and will serve as a valuable resource for students, researchers, and scholars in the coming years.
