Awareness Session on Freely Available World Bank Resources

A workshop on freely accessible World Bank resources, organized by the Library’s Training and Skill Development domain, was successfully held on 4th September 2024 in the Board Room of the Main Library, University of Colombo. The session focused on educating participants about the resources provided by the World Bank Group, such as the Open Knowledge Repository, various documents and reports, Open Data, and research related to Sri Lanka, as well as how to utilize these resources effectively. This workshop was specifically designed for university librarians and teaching faculty, equipping them with the necessary skills to efficiently retrieve and use World Bank data, reports, and publications for their research and teaching activities.

The workshop featured expert resource persons from the World Bank Group, including Ms. Amita Rawat, Ms. Nha Thi Vu, Mr. Prashant Kumar Ganta, and Mr. Jhony Masand, all of whom serve as research librarians.

The event was a significant step towards promoting awareness of the valuable global resources offered by the World Bank, fostering enhanced access to information for the academic community.
